About Dr Sanjeev Agarwal
Background
I spent 13 years in the UK's National Health Service, training in respiratory medicine, critical care and general internal medicine and working as a consultant at St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals. While there I set up the trust's obstructive sleep apnoea service and its ward-based chest ultrasound and EBUS services. In 2013 I came home to India to bring that standard of care to patients here.
Megastar Hospitals
I founded Megastar Hospital and Medical Sciences in Varanasi so that specialist respiratory, critical and general medical care is available close to home. Alongside the hospital we are building software for digital health records, telemedicine and remote monitoring, so that good care doesn't depend on how far a patient lives from a big city.
COVID-19 Leadership
During the pandemic I served on Uttar Pradesh's COVID-19 management group with the state government and the Community Empowerment Lab, helping write the state's treatment protocols, and offered free telemedicine consultations to patients across India.

Software we are building at Megastar so that patients in remote areas can see a specialist by video, keep their health records in one place and be monitored at home after they leave hospital.

During the pandemic I worked with the Government of Uttar Pradesh and the Community Empowerment Lab as part of the state’s COVID-19 management group: helping develop treatment protocols, training healthcare workers and offering free telemedicine consultations to patients across India.
